Six Books That Have Shaped Me

Which 6 books would you choose?

Alphabetical by author:

1. Anita Brookner - Hotel Du Lac
2. Odd Thomas - Dean Koontz
3. John Thomas & Lady Jane - D H Lawrence
4. To Kill A Mockingbird - Harper Lee
5. Of Mice & Men - J B Priestley
6. Avalon - Anya Seaton

  1. in no particular order:
    1. Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien
    2. The Eagle of the Ninth by Rosemary Sutcliff
    3. The Sunbird by Wilbur Smith
    4. The first Sharpe book (I read) by Bernard Cornwell
    5. The Summer Tree by Guy Gavriel Kay
    6. The Forgotten Soldier by Guy Sajer

  2. Interesting list, Ben! The work of Guy Gavriel Kay looks intriguing (this may affect my pocket) :D

  3. Guy Gavriel Kay? He's an astonishingly good writer. One of those who can write such beautiful material that he has me blubbing as I read...not that that's a recommendation, but his books are absolutely outstanding. The Summer Tree is the first part of a fantasy trilogy, but he also writes brilliant alternate history books e.g. Middle Ages France, Moorish Spain etc.

  4. Thank for that! Sounds fascinating, I am definitely going to check out his work :D
